PRESENTATIONS
BOOK ONE, BOOK TWO, and BOOK THREE
Pre-K – 3rd grades
The students will meet with the authors, learn about their teaching careers, and why upon retirement they decided to write these books for children. We will discuss what a series is and depending on the grade level, the writing and publishing process. This will be followed by a reading of one of the stories with student participation. The culminating activity will be:
BOOK ONE: A fun lesson on "Disguises" which will be follwed up in the classroom with the teacher doing a writing and drawing lesson.
BOOK TWO: A lesson on "Sequencing." Depending on the grade level, it will be either pictures or sentences.
BOOK THREE: Discussion explaining a writing and drawing lesson this is appropriate for each grade level, about a "Discovery" each child can make. Follow up will be a lesson done by the teacher in the classroom.
BOOK ONE, BOOK TWO, and BOOK THREE
4th and 5th grades
This activity can be adapted for third graders if their reading and writing skills are on grade level.
BOOK ONE and BOOK TWO: The culminating activity will be a discussion on "how to write a humorous story." We will do an outline with the group and then each teacher can do a follow-up writing lesson in the classroom.
BOOK THREE: "Writing A Discovery Story and Illustrating it." We will discuss an outline in depth and the story will be written in class.
ALL GRADES WILL RECEIVE A FOLDER WITH APPROPRIATE FOLLOW-UP LESSONS.
LENGTH OF PROGRAM
(flexible) The average lesson per group is 30 minutes depending on the grade level.
FEES
We present together for one fee. Usual full day fee: $500.00. This is negotiable if we are permitted to sell books.
GROUP SIZE
We prefer doing our presentation in smaller groups (individual grades) as opposed to a full assembly.
